The selection of the Animated short films and the diversity of them proves what the Academy Awards members including John Lasseter were fighting for. At an earlier year, the Academy was receiving a lot of Animated Short Films submissions, the question was brought up to the members if they were willing to cut the number of submissions in order to make the process easier. Their answer was a bold "No" adding that EVERYONE should have a chance to win, no matter where the film comes from, technique, story, etc. Anybody driven by the passion of telling stories through Animated Short Films should get a chance to win.
