So this is a third and final idea, it has to be different from the other poses, since I'm in the search for the best way to portray excitement.

I think if you hold his head high in the air it will look even more exciting.... hard to see until you actually pose it :P Looks dynamic dude!
I like your idea for the pose mario! I do get a subtle feeling that he's trying to lift the trophy as if it were heavy. Maybe try adjusting his head so as if he were looking out to the crowd maybe or try extending his arms so they aren't as bent? otherwise, definitely an awesome idea! =)
