Class 5 Session 8: 3d Layout
Making the transition from the 2D animatic to the 3D layout is a very exciting process. First of all the accuracy of the 3D world fixes and teaches you how your drawings should be or supposed to look like. Once you have the 3D set, positioning the cameras is really fun. Posing the 3D characters is very slow compare to drawing them. Finally after 18 hours this week, this is what I came up with.

Good work Mario! Glad to see you're coming a long way with your short. It really feels just like your 2D animatic which means your did a great job with transferring your 2D into 3D!
This could be a really fun story! It's the classic three time's a charm gag, and they're not moving around alot so you'll probably have to rely alot on acting and facial expressions.
I really like the rack focus shot where the big guy notices his boss and then pushes off, should be pretty cool.
Two things that stand out to me...
One, the way they're playing Pong isn't believable to me (bashing into the keyboard). I know you're trying to sell the chaos of them playing like that, but are you going to make it realistic with how they hit the keys? Also, at the end, the big guy is looking screen right. Where is he looking? Is he looking at the screen and waving? Or the other guy? And why is the big guy sad at the end? Oh, and how did the skinny guy at the end know he won if his eyes are closed the whole time? ;)
Hope to see you in Montreal soon!! :D
Ciao,
Bartek
PS: thx for dinner! ;)
